Night Skies at Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park

October 9, 2020 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

National Parks are becoming a refuge for people from city light pollution. Social distancing will be maintained as Charlottesville Astronomical Society astronomers will have a video rig on a telescope feeding a video monitor. Guests will be instructed in how to use binoculars for astronomy. The Moon does not rise until 11 pm so skies will be dark. Observe Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Andromeda Galaxy, the Hercules Globular Cluster and more!

Free to all park visitors. Binoculars, a blanket, chair, and flashlight are recommended.

Presentation is cancelled if there is inclement weather. Call 540-999-2222 the day of the event to check on its status.
